Rust inhibiting primer for prepared metal

A 100% acrylic direct to metal coating formulated to seal ferous metal surfaces and inhibit rust. DTM Primer seals, primes and protects properly prepared metal and can serve as the foundation for our architectural topcoats.

DTM Primer can be used on ferrous and non-ferrous bare or lightly rusted metal surfaces as well as compatible previously coated metal. Preparation still determines the success of the coating system.

01 · cleanRemove loose rust and contamination

Prepare to a sound, clean surface before applying the primer. Be sure existing surfaces are free of debree, oils or chemical contamination that can affect the surface adhesion.

02 · ApplicationThin, uniform coat

Avoid excesive surface depth and keep the application as uniform as possible to increase surface adhesion.

03 · Before moving onTest adhesion and compatibility

Ensure full coverage before application. DTM Primer is compatible with any of our paint finishes

Primer colors

General values 1 through 6 only

DTM Primer can be tinted to General Collection values 1 through 6. Blacks, Vivids, Metals, Patina color collections as well as General values 7 through 8 are not available.

Coordinate the undercoat

Choose a light to mid value that supports the selected finish color where a tinted primer is useful.

Not a Metallic color

For a finished metallic surface, use Metallic Paint in the Direct To Metal base after the correct preparation and primer strategy.

Selector rule

The product selector should prevent unavailable darker values and excluded collections from being ordered.
